2 Macquarie St, Sydney
The festival stars Gorgeous!, a series of performances taking place in the Famous Spiegeltent, which range from cabaret to comedy to music and everything in between. For the first time ever, the Spiegeltent has merged with another iconic venue, the Sydney Opera House forecourt, to give Sydneysiders a unique and world-famous venue in a picturesque location.
Performances at the Spiegeltent include sexy Irish chanteuse Camille O'Sullivan, whose cabaret act Chameleon is sure to raise temperatures in the tent. Gretchen Parlato is a jazz singer who has been dubbed 'the female Frank Sinatra'; Juke Baritone and the Swamp Dogs offer an eccentric take on swampy New Orleans-style blues; Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu is an Indigenous singer/songwriter who has been making waves of late with his beautiful, stripped-back acoustic guitar-based songs.
On the other side of town, Annandale is the place to be for Fringe Festival excitement: the Annandale Hotel heats up as up-and-coming electro-poppers Lovers Electric take the stage, while the Mu-Meson Archives become the site of two underground film festivals that will have film nerds frothing at the mouth in anticipation.
